Job Summary
The Department of Environmental Science invites applications for a lab coordinator position to begin in mid-May.

Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean for Sciences, the Laboratory Coordinator oversees the laboratories in the Department of Environmental Science.

Job Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include oversight of all laboratories in the environmental science curriculum in coordination with faculty instructors; setting up, maintaining, and documenting standardized procedures for operating a Westco SmartChem® 200 Discrete Analyzer, CHN analyzer, GC-MS, and other specialized field instruments in the department of environmental science; and setting up and taking down weekly class experiments. Additional duties include hiring and oversight of student lab assistants, ordering materials for educational and faculty research labs, working with laboratory teaching assistants and faculty to test and develop new experiments, arranging for lab equipment maintenance, hazardous waste compliance & disposal, delivery and enforcement of safety protocols to teaching assistants and students, the development of expertise for all instruments associated with department laboratories, carrying out the duties of Building Marshal Emergency Assistant as part of the emergency response team, organization and maintaining cleanliness of the laboratories, maintenance of the chemical and supplies inventory, and maintenance of camping supplies and equipment inventory. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Dean for Sciences and have a strong collaborative relationship with the Chair of Environmental Science.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in a laboratory science with an additional 1-3 years' experience in the laboratory, field, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with SmartChem 200 discrete analyzer and/or deployable field-based water quality instrumentation is a plus.
