Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Facilities
The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, is accepting applications for an Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Facilities. This position is responsible to plan, organize and prioritize the grounds keeping responsibilities for all athletic facilities on campus. Responsibilities include; the daily maintenance of all athletic facilities; ensuring outdoor playing surfaces are properly marked and playable for NCAA purposes for games and practices; prepare and recover facilities during off season times; ensure facilities care schedules are established and followed; conduct periodic inspections on equipment and schedules preventative maintenance; select, requisition, purchase and receive equipment and materials; maintain records and prepare reports regarding work activities; prioritize, assign and inspect grounds keeping duties of subordinates; and train and perform reviews for new and existing staff.
Special knowledge and skills pertinent to this position include (but are not limited to); Knowledge of landscape engineering and design principles, safety practices relevant to the area of athletic facility management and knowledge of personnel, procurement and budgeting practices in state government. The ability to keep accurately written records, communicate effectively and make optimal use of personnel, materials and equipment. The ability to develop procedures and define actions for specific situations as well as an ability to work independently and take ownership and accountability for athletic facilities is needed. This position requires outside work in all elements as well as some evening and weekend work. Limited overnight travel as necessary. Must be able to lift and move heavy objects and work for long periods of time without sitting. This person must also understand, comply with and uphold all academic, institutional, SOCON, and NCAA regulations.
Must have a Bachelor’s degree; 5 years’ experience in Athletic field maintenance. Proven understanding of safety regulations. Experience with equipment pertinent to athletic facility maintenance. Possess strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with other campus entities
