Assistant Professor of Spanish
The Department of Languages and Literature at Southern University in Baton Rouge is seeking applications for a tenure track position in Spanish/TESOL, ESL, TEFL, or ELT at the rank of Assistant Professor. The candidate will be responsible for: teaching four (4) courses per semester in undergraduate Spanish language, literature, linguistics, TESOL, ESL, ELT and/or culture courses, advising students; serving the department, the university and the community; engaging in scholarly activities and developing an ESL/English concentration. Teaching schedules may include assignments in the evening or on-line classes, and coordinating or teaching intensive immersion courses and programs.
The applicant must have a Ph. D., have credentials to teach Spanish at the college level and hold a TESOL, ESL,TEFL, or ELT certification and be fluent (native speaker level) in Spanish. Teaching experience in Spanish and some TESOL, ESL, TEFL, or ELT courses for 2-5 years at a college level is required. Online teaching and some experience with Study Abroad programs is desired.
