Advises clients and caretakers regarding health promotion, disease, illness and accident prevention and treatment plans.

Performs in a leadership capacity for infection control and occupational health for ECRH.

Provides emergency medical care for ECRH as necessary.

Establishes and maintains a positive relationship with AU through educational training opportunities.

Prescribes or administers treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease or injury and refers to outside specialists and/or practitioners as appropriate.

Coordinates care with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists, psychiatrists and other healthcare providers in order to establish continuity and holistic approach to care for the mental health and developmentally disabled clients.

Examines patients' physical health and documents any medical history.  Orders medications, lab tests, x-rays and other medical tests as necessary. Analyzes medical information and consults with other medical practitioners to establish diagnosis, prognosis and proper treatment plans.  Supervises Physician's Assistants and Nuse Practitioners in provision of care.

Minimum Requirements  

Medical degree from a medical school recognized by the composite state board of medical examiners.  This department will support Conrad 30 J-1 visa waivers, H1B visas and sponsorship of green cards.

Licensure to practice medicine at a state institution or in the state of Georgia as provided by state law is required.
