Primary Function of Organization Unit: The HR Services Team provides expertise in human resource administration, develops policies, and manages processes for position control and classification, recruitment and hiring, salary administration and compensation, employment, HR transactions and data management, compliance, payroll, workforce planning, leave administration, performance evaluation, and separation for EPA Tenure Track and Non-Tenure Track faculty, EPA non-faculty, post docs, SPA staff, adjuncts and visitors, no-pay employees, graduate assistants, temporary employees, and student workers.

Essential Job Duties: The HR Specialist is a member of the college HR Services team serving as the liaison between central HR and administration for departments/units within the college. As a member of the HR Services team, the HR Specialist assists with the establishment and implementation of HR processes in the college and ensures compliance with university policies for Graduate Assistants, temporary employees, and student workers related to position control, recruitment and hiring, salary administration, compensation, HR data management, HR transactions, and separation. The HR Specialist also serves as the college Leave Administrator and Employee Performance Appraisal Administrator for all departments and units (10 academic departments, 3 academic programs, 3 centers/institutes, and 8 administrative units).

Minimum Education/Experience:

Department Required Skills: Intermediate MS excel skills (ability to create new and manipulate existing spreadsheets). Prior experience entering HR transactions in PeopleSoft HR or similar system Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: 4+ years experience working in a HR support or administrative capacity preferred. Prior experience working in PeopleSoft HR and entering PeopleSoft HR transactions at both the Departmental Level and the College Level.
