The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) is seeking a postdoctoral or more senior researcher to work at the DIII-D National Facility in San Diego. The successful candidate will plan, perform and analyze experiments at the DIII-D National Fusion Facility in San Diego. Examples of possible work topics include but are not limited to: NTM stability analysis and control; Pedestal stability analysis and control; Real-time stability analysis for disruption avoidance; ELM control using real-time analysis of the plasma. The successful candidate will be based in San Diego and is expected to travel nationally and internationally to interact with other leading experiments addressing similar issues and conduct joint experiments.
Essential Qualifications Candidates must have a PhD in a relevant field of engineering, science, or mathematics with expertise in one or more of the following: plasma physics, control science or a similar field.
This is a one year term position renewable depending upon available funding and satisfactory performance. This position is subject to the University's background check policy.
