The law school Events Planner provides event services for all School of Law events and programs, including commencement, faculty/student conferences and symposia, alumni events, orientation and special events and programs. The Events Planner works with the various constituent groups of the law school to ensure the successful execution of events through effective communication, attention to detail, adherence to best practices in event management and by complying with deadlines, timelines, university and law school policies and the event budget. The successful Event Planner will be creative, well organized and detailed oriented and will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The Events Planner reports to the Assistant Dean for Administration.
Master's degree, or a bachelor's degree and 2 years relevant program experience.
The Event Planner must have excellent organizational, time management, communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with a diverse constituency of faculty, staff, alumni, students, and the public. Must be flexible to accommodate unpredictable demands and be able to work evenings and weekends when events are scheduled for those days and times. Must be able to manage multiple tasks, pay attention to details, and meet deadlines while remaining personable and professional. Must be able to develop and monitor event budgets. Must have an intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and database software and the ability to use marketing and registration software such as Mailchimp, Eventbrite and Touchnet. Must be proficient in PeopleSoft or have the ability to learn the software. Must have (or develop) knowledge of USC and Educational Foundation policies and procedures related to events.
Must possess high expectations for quality, excellent customer service etiquette and a strong work ethic.
The preferred candidate will have five years of event planning experience.
