Research Assistant

Position: Research Assistant; full-time, benefit-eligible, one-year appointment with possibility of reappointment for a second year.

Setting: The University of Missouri (MU) is located in Columbia, which is situated in central Missouri. The University of Missouri-Columbia, the first public university west of the Mississippi River, is a major land-grant institution and Missouri's largest public research university. Cost of living in Columbia and surrounding areas is very reasonable.

Primary Activities: The MizZzou Sleep Research Lab in the Department of Health Psychology uses neuroimaging, psychophysical, and behavioral paradigms to investigate the mechanisms associated with sleep and related disorders such as chronic pain, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Obesity, and Eating Disorders. The position will involve both administrative and research duties with the candidate overseeing the day-to-day aspects of participant recruitment, data collection and management, and other responsibilities as needed.

Applicants must be collaborative and able to work well both independently and as part of a team. Good time management skills are essential. Successful candidates will be able to prioritize and complete work on multiple projects with competing requirements in a timely manner. Moreover, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing are important.

Qualifications: Applicants with a master’s (preferred) or bachelor’s degree, and experience in the field(s) of neuroscience, psychology, biomedical engineering, cognitive science, or another closely related field will be considered. Qualified candidates should have basic competencies in data entry, file manipulation, and familiarity with using Excel or other spreadsheet software. Previous experience with research involving clinical populations, is strongly preferred.

Salary & Benefits: This position is full-time (40 hrs/week) benefit-eligible appointment at $15.38 to $16.83 per hour. Initial appointment will be for one-year, with the possibility of reappointment for a second year.
