Northwest Regional Data Center
Assists the Network Architect in implementing and managing highly advanced and complex enterprise networks for NWRDC and its customers. Provides installation, troubleshooting and maintenance for various Cisco router, switch and VPN systems at NWRDC. Configures firewall systems. Develops system specifications and requirements based on networking trends and customer needs.
Assists in the design, planning and implementation of integrated network solutions, including routers, VPNs, IPS/IDS, LAN/WAN infrastructures, protocol recommendations, network topologies and related systems.
Provides network connectivity support both internally and for NWRDC customers. Determines, tests and validates potential solutions.
Provides backup support for network related Linux OS and Intel hardware systems. Other duties and responsibilities as required by supervisor.
Participates in an after-hours support and/or team on-call rotation in support of a 24x7 data center.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and two years experience or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to six years.
Ability to convey technical information to technical and non- technical users.
Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop change or alternatives.
Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, VPN and firewalls. Knowledge of OSPF, BGP and EIGRP routing protocols. Knowledge of TCP/IP.
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related University policies and procedures.
Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the network and data field.
Proven experience in a Network Administrator role
Hands on experience in networking, routing and switching
Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of network LAN's
Experience with using monitoring tools and familiar with SNMP set up
Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN's remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired
Juniper, Cisco or Palo Alto Certification or proven hands on experience working with these in a production Network environment
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm
