The University of Kentucky is seeking a Surgical PA/NP with a minimum of three to five years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery. Specifically, proficiency in endovascular vein harvesting (EVH) required, Open Radial Artery harvest, performance of various other procedures to include: Arterial and Central Venous catheter insertion, IABP, and Thoracostomy tube management. The candidate must be able to work with a significant amount of clinical autonomy while developing and implementing appropriate treatment plans. Other duties include management of patients in an outpatient pre/post-operative clinic. On-call rotation is with the other PAs on the team. Join a dynamic Cardiothoracic Surgery team of three adult cardiac and two cardiac and lung transplant surgeons. Last year the program performed 600 Adult Cardiac and Transplant procedures. The ideal candidate will join three experienced Surgical Physician Assistants and a team of Advanced Practice Providers who are primarily responsible for in house consultations and post-operative care.

Required License/ Registration/Certification

For Nurse Practitioner applicants, active Kentucky Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license.

For Nurse Practitioner applicants, acute care certification is preferred.

For Physician Assistant applicants, current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification and active Kentucky Physician Assistant (PA) license.

required by state law and University policies.



Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time.

45 - 50 hours per week exempt status, on-call and shift as assigned.
