Job Description

Duties and responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for guiding Infrastructure Networking technical strategy.
  • Define Network standards
  • Proposes new technologies, new technical and architectural strategies, and new processes to meet business challenges, in full consideration of their costs and benefits. Provides insights and new ways of looking at the business and technology that contribute to the strategic plans and directions.
  • Develops architectural standards and roadmaps to migrate to standards that will add significant value to the business. Promotes the architectural vision to MTS colleagues, explaining the ultimate value to be achieved, and resolving conflicts between standardization and innovation.
  • Develops highly sophisticated technology plans to support the business that requires the integration of multiple technologies, addressing the interrelationships of multiple systems, and serving diverse clients
  • Proactively assesses the trends in business functions and the industry in general and their impact on the technology architecture; anticipates changes and needs to effectively plan for the future of the multiple technologies supported
  • Partner with industry experts and peers to better understand the future of technology and to nurture respect for MTS infrastructure and its use cases
  • Partner with infrastructure groups across MTS to develop optimized network connectivity, redundancy and fault tolerance
  • Work closely with other MTS groups (both domestically and internationally) sharing project information to understand current and future technologically needs and direction
  • Lead strategic Network connectivity planning for public and private cloud use at Viacom
  • May lead a small team of technical contributors, providing work direction, guidance and coaching. Will also provide technical leadership across the MTS organization
  • Partner with Operations team to adapt support models for dynamically deployed and scaled platforms
  • Keep Network Support Center Management abreast of any and all network performance or management issues that require high-level attention
  • Work with the VMN engineering team to resolve all issues related to networking
  • Ensure work and projects are completed promptly and thoroughly
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery planning and testing
  • Conducts technical assessments of team and provides feedback on performance as necessary - may also prepare / deliver reviews

    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Describe specifically amount and type of previous relevant experience, and knowledge needed for successful performance of this job.

  • 10-12 years total business experience
  • 5-7 years as a network technician in a large network corporate environment
  • Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Must have expert knowledge of Cisco routers and switches

    Heavy network "hands on" technical experience of the following technologies:
  • Knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, wireless AP and Controllers, IOS, NXOS, Load balancers, WAN accelerators, Content filters
  • Knowledge of IP security implementation, multi-vendor IPS, URL filtering
  • Knowledge of Dark Fiber and CWDM/DWDM
  • Knowledge of MPLS, BGP & Internet Exchange Peering
  • Knowledge of QoS
  • Knowledge of Multicast
  • Knowledge and experience in provisioning, management and maintenance of structured cabling systems
  • Knowledge of OSPF, EIGRP, IGMP, Private MPLS-VPN, and IPSEC
  • Experience in deploying SNMP based monitoring solutions
  • Experience in medium/large corporate network rollout and support
  • Experience in Large scale enterprise project management
  • Experience in Media/Entertainment/Broadcast/Hosting/ISP environment

  • Advanced network technology certification
  • CCIE Routing and Switching preferred
  • Cisco switches (Nexus 7K, 5K, 2K, 6509E, 4500)
  • Cisco Routers (ISR and ASR family of routers)
  • Cisco ASA Firewalls
  • Cisco DCM's (D9000 series)
  • Load balancers (Cisco ACE, F5, NetScaler), WAN accelerators (Riverbed), Content filters
  • Knowledge of IP security implementation, multi-vendor IPS, URL filtering
