The University of Virginia's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences seeks candidates for a Research Associate position with experience in optical communications and networking to support a research initiative in the Charles L. Brown Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is appointed annually and renewed for additional one-year increments up to three years, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in electrical engineering or a related area focused on theory, modeling, and simulation of optical communication systems by the appointment start date. Preference will be given to candidates with familiarity with physical layer issues as they relate to long-haul optical fiber networks.
