Job Summary This position facilitates the management of the introductory laboratory courses in the Odum School of Ecology. The position requires a significant supervisory role, organizational skills, experience in research methods in ecology, teaching skills, and a collaborative work ethic. Work involves planning and supervising teaching preparation sessions for graduate student laboratory instructors, developing and revising instructional activities based on ecological research methods to be used in the laboratory program in collaboration with course instructors, oversight of instruments, supplies and laboratory teaching spaces, and interacting with faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates relative to the laboratory program. Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the undergraduate coordinator and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Work is reviewed annually through observation of results and reports. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree and 4 years experience or equivalent combination required. Specialty certification may be required. Masters degree preferred Area-specific certification (i.e.; SCUBA) and training may be required. Other training will be provided as appropriate (i.e.; UGA HazMat training and/or Radiation Worker).
