Unit Job Summary: The office of Enrollment and Student Advancement is looking for a technologically savvy individual to join the technology team (eTech) in supporting the graduate and undergraduate admissions systems and technology. The Admissions Systems Technology Specialist is an entry to intermediate level position where the appropriate candidate will learn the ropes of working with the University's Admissions Systems (Technolutions Slate) as well as supporting the basic technology operations of the office of Enrollment and Student Advancement. eTech is a group of friendly technology professionals and enthusiasts who act as the primary technical support for users within the Office of Enrollment and Student Advancement as well as admissions system support for the Graduate and Undergraduate Divisions at the University of Chicago. A majority of our time is spent supporting the admissions systems, but we also handle computer inventory and deployment logistics as well as triaging and troubleshooting issues with any technical equipment in any of our three office locations on campus. Candidates should be comfortable working with data systems technology, but should also be prepared to deal with and troubleshoot various types of technology including PC and Mac computers, monitors, printers, scanners, installed software, and the occasional smartphone or networking question. Candidates should be comfortable using CRM (Constituent Relationship Management) systems and understand the basics of database functionality. Acting as a primary contact for system technical support questions and requests from internal University systems users and external system applicants. Performing basic troubleshooting, statistical analysis, reporting, maintenance, research and upkeep using existing system functionality. Analyzing user requirements and recommending actions. Designing system data export queries for mailing lists and reporting statistics. Developing and maintaining documentation on system operations, data dictionaries, and system maintenance functions. Maintaining quality assurance and control, project reporting, testing, training, and risk management procedures. Designing forms and events using system functionality. Designing and quality checking emails for mass communication campaigns using system Delivery tool.

Unit Education: High School diploma or GED required. Bachelors degree preferred.

Unit Experience: Experience with CRM systems or databases. Experience working with and troubleshooting technology in a PC environment. Experience working with data. Experience with bulk email campaigns. Experience with the Technolutions Slate Admissions System is a plus.

Unit Job Function Competencies: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Proficiency using data tools such as Microsoft Excel and Access. Understanding of data, data models, good data practice, and the impact of data decisions on practical operation of business applications. Knowledge of HTML and CSS email design.
