Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary
Southwestern Michigan College, a two-year college located approximately 30 minutes north of South Bend, Indiana and approximately 30 minutes from Lake Michigan’s eastern shore, seeks a part-time English instructor to teach all levels of freshman composition courses starting in the Fall 2017 semester.


Required Qualifications
Master of Arts (M.A.) in English. Must be comfortable using an online learning platform (i.e. Moodle) for grading, attendance, and posting course documents.


Preferred Qualifications
Master of Arts (M.A.) in English, with at least 18 graduate credit hours specifically in the rhetoric/composition field. Prior community college teaching experience is a plus.


Other Information
All applicants must demonstrate the ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods, relate to students and facilitate student learning. Excellent organization and communication skills as well as the demonstrated use of instructional technology are required.
