Required Qualifications: (AS Evidenced by an Attached Resume)

BS in any biological sciences (for example- Biochemistry, Biology, Physiology, Molecular or Cell Biology) by the starting date of the position (June 2017).

Experience with advanced research or related laboratory activities and techniques for establishing kidney disease models. Must be proficient in cell culture, handling mice (mouse breeding, mouse surgeries, tail vein injections), protein quantification, western blot, RT-PCR, immunostaining, perform statistical calculations and data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

MS, or doctoral degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Molecular or Cell Biology. Graduate level training in molecular biology and/or biochemistry

Brief Description of Duties:

The Research Support Specialist will assist with advanced research related activities and techniques for establishing kidney disease models.

Job duties:

  • Perform cell culture studies, protein quantification, RNA quantification, western blotting, RT-PCR, and immunostaining. Also, must perform data analysis and be able to troubleshoot.
  • Assist with maintaining mouse colonies, in vivo experiments involving mouse models of kidney disease.
  • Assist with lab organization, ordering lab supplies, library research, and perform inventory on supplies.

Special Notes: This is a full time appointment. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
