The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor. The successful candidate will have a PhD in chemistry, chemical physics, or related fields, and demonstrate excellence in teaching at all levels of physical or analytical chemistry. We seek creative candidates in the area of imaging/microscopy/tomography with the drive to become leaders in their fields, who will pursue a vibrant, highly visible, externally funded research program involving development of novel methodology/instrumentation and who will develop applications of their research to study important problems in biological/chemical imaging of biomolecular systems. Examples of research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, cryoelectron microscopy (cryo-EM) and cryoelectron tomography (cryo-ET), micro-electron diffraction (micro-ED), single molecule imaging, super-resolution microscopy, mass spectrometry imaging, and spectroscopic imaging. Outstanding candidates with research programs in the broader areas of physical/analytical/biophysical chemistry will be considered as well.

The successful candidate will benefit from a collaborative research environment, and will join an NIH-funded Center of Biomedical Research Excellence focused on Molecular Design of Advanced Biomaterials.


Applicants must have a doctorate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Physics, or a related field.
