The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works in the Department of Otolaryngology. Duties include but are not limited to: preparing patient for visit; obtaining vital signs, past medical and surgical history, current medications and allergies, chart documentation via electronic medical record, telephone triage with protocol, order entry via protocol or provider verbal order. Retrieving and communication of test results. Medication administration within scope of practice. Assist and/or chaperone procedures. Performs wound care and reinforcement of patient education. Observes and reports adverse reactions and initiate interventions. Prescription refills per provider order or protocol, obtains medication prior authorizations as required.
