This position may be assigned to any program area (4-H, Agriculture, FCS, or Horticulture) and may be located in any county where a current agent vacancy exists. However, placement for Agent-at-Large positions will give preference to counties with funding challenges. The duties of the Agent-at-Large will be consistent with the duties of a regular agent.

The Agent-at-Large would be required to compete and interview for the open position(s) the same as an agent who might request a transfer. There is no guarantee of continued employment beyond the 3 year period for an Agent-at-Large; however the experience gained in the Agent-at-Large position allows the candidate to have the additional experience needed to be employed in the Cooperative Extension System.

The salary, travel and professional improvement funds of an Agent-at-Large will be paid on state funds. Program support funds will be provided by the county in which the Agent-at-Large is placed.
