Research Analyst, Title III STEM Grant

Job Description Summary:
The Research Analyst will assist the Director of Learning, Teaching, and Assessment in leading the measurement of effectiveness of Title III STEM HSI grant and La Verne Experience initiatives. This role will devise the most appropriate research methodology, collect the relevant data and data types, use of variety of analysis techniques, and report on the success of such initiatives. The incumbent will lead and support the presentation and publication of results to grant leaders, institutional officials, as well as a national audience.

Specific Duties:

Design statistical studies given Title III grant performance goals; establish an appropriate baseline and relevant variable measurement plan using research-based designs, metrics of performance and success, and available university data.
Work effectively with Director of Learning, Teaching, and Assessment, Associate Dean of Learning, Innovation, and Teaching, and grant staff and faculty to design, implement, and assess course, department, and university level research that leads to publication and presentations.
Oversee the experimental design and implementation of all research components of grant initiatives as well as ensure that the research results are reported accurately and are relevant to the specific goals and objectives.
Perform analyses using grant, STEM, and university data and create recommendations for appropriate interventions.
Remain current and provide expertise to the grant team on the What Works Clearinghouse best practices, T3 regulations, and WRD best practice memos.
Create/manage database of STEM students using Banner and internal data.
Assist grant team, internal evaluation team, and external evaluator in writing the quarterly Title III grant report
Other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in related field
Experience in higher education - working on research with STEM faculty, diverse student populations, or curriculum
Experience with Oracle/Access style datasets, ability to extract needed data from a variety of data tables, strong organizational skills with data set assembly, storage, retrieval, and sharing
Excellent team skills - ability to manage small scale projects and work as part of a project team on large scale projects, strong communications skills, ability to manage relationships with key individuals from a variety of institutional departments
Experience with appropriate application of quantitative and qualitative research methodology - strong analytical ability, high level of understanding of different data sources, excellent presentation skills
Strong skills in analytical/statistical output creation - critical thinking and analysis, creative thinking, problem solving, and decision making

Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to efficiently use Banner
Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
Act with professionalism and tact when dealing with students and staff
Excellent oral speaking skills and correspondence and writing skills
