Position Summary
It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide the learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of the course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. The faculty member's role encompasses the general areas of learning facilitation, professional development, and institutional service. Primary responsibilities are to plan, develop and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.

Job Functions
1.Teaches courses in Respiratory Care at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs. (Teaching load is 50% of workload.)
2.Serves as Program Director for the program. (Director responsibilities are 50% of workload.)
3.Responsible for meeting all accreditation requirements including reports and ensuring the program remains fully accredited.
4.Makes continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
5.Develops the semester schedules and assigns faculty per workload requirements.
6.Manages the budget for the program and makes purchases staying within budget.
7.Evaluates adjunct faculty.
8.Troubelshoot student complaints and communicate concerns to Division Dean.
9.Develops and uses a syllabus for each course or laboratory within college and departmental guidelines.
10.Plans, develops and uses a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives and which are appropriate for students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles.  
11.Evaluates students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course objectives and informs them in a timely manner of their progress in the course.
12.Addresses student complaints regarding adjunct faculty.
13.Submits required college reports and forms. 
14.Reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials.
15.Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community. 
16.Provides access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods.
17.Responsible for professional development and institutional service as determined in consultation with the Dean.
18.Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree, valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and current state license.
•4 years’ work experience as an RRT with at least two years’ experience in clinical respiratory care. 
•2 years’ experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor.
