Summary of Position:
The Director of Men’s Basketball Operations provides oversight for the men’s basketball program with emphasis on student-athletes’ well-being. The position will support student-athletes by assisting in the coordination of academic programs, resident life, and serving as the point person for all NCAA compliance issues.
Will provide administrative/managerial functions such as budget management, purchasing and travel reconciliation and will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and performing within the program budget. Manage on-campus recruiting activities and communications with recruits. The position schedules all practices, games, and team travel for the men’s basketball program.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience working in a college athletic environment with student-athletes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to analyze and interpret policy and procedural guidelines to resolve problems and questions specific to collegiate athletic teams.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to coordinate multiple efforts/ projects at one time.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse population of individuals including students, parents, university faculty and staff, community members and vendors.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The UNCW Department of Athletics sponsors 19 varsity sports and competes in the NCAA Division I as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association.
