Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking an application for a Trades Specialist IV(Locksmith).  Under limited supervision, the Locksmith will install and repair locks, makes keys, implements and coordinates master keying systems and locks. Will be required to formulate, prepare, and revise key security and control as needed. Must be able to procure, fabricate, install and maintain all campus doors, locks and hardware systems.

The Locksmith must be skilled in the installation and repair of residential, commercial, high security and electronic lock systems. Responsible for maintenance of campus doors, locks, mechanical closures, security devices and all associated door parts. Must be able to apply these skills to repairs/remodeling, maintenance and new construction, skilled in the use of hand power tools and specialized Locksmith equipment as well as capable of interpreting site plans and blue prints.

Minimum Qualifications:

A high school diploma or GED and ten (10) years’ experience in commercial and residential lock smith is required. Must have full use of all extremities and be able to stoop, kneel, bend. Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolding, roofs, and multi structured buildings. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs a minimum distance of 50 feet. Must be able to work in confined spaces and poorly ventilated spaces. Work conditions may require working in adverse weather and varying temperatures. Must be able to pass a complete security background check. Some overtime and weekend work will be required. Must provide basic locksmith trade handtools. Must have a valid SC driver's license. Must be skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, or similar programs. Must be familiar with sending and responding to email. Must be able to communicate effectively (written and oral) with a wide range of customers, technicians, and contractors.
