Senior Photographer for The Citadel
The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking applicants for Senior Photographer of The Citadel. This person will be responsible for supporting the mission of The Citadel and the Office of Communications and Marketing by providing visual materials that promote, interpret and enhance the understanding of the college and its constituencies in publications, online and in social media as well as through the media and other communications outlets.
As senior photographer, this person will be responsible for supervising the preparation and distribution of digital images to college departments that need material for their publications and web pages. In additional to regular assignments, the photographer takes pictures of Friday afternoon parades and events during celebrated weekends (Matriculation, Parents’ Weekend, Homecoming, Corps Day and Graduation); supports athletic department photography as able; and manages the functions of Citadel Photography while working with the OCM Office Manager to track requests, provide services and bill as appropriate. The photographer serves as yearbook photographer, taking photos of all cadets and active duty students, and serves as a mentor for cadets, interns, and others who are interested in photography as a hobby or career.
The Citadel photographer serves as an ambassador for The Citadel by (1) providing excellent customer service for those with legitimate needs for Citadel photography, (2) assisting videographers, photojournalists and other external professionals who have assignments on campus, and (3) exploring opportunities to promote The Citadel through photography. The photographer maintains a file of generic images that illustrate the principle aspects of Citadel life.
This position requires a creative self-starter who will stay abreast of advances in digital technology and look for ways to expand the capabilities of the department with regard to efficiency and technical expertise.
A high school diploma and five years of photographic experience. Must be dependable, customer-service oriented and have a creative eye for visual images that interpret or illustrate aspects of Citadel life. Must be abreast of new technologies in digital photography, computer design and related technologies.
Employee must be a self-starter who can work well with people at all levels in the college. Must be able to meet deadlines and handle situations and assignments professionally.
