Full Professor - The F.M. Hill Chair in Health Systems Solutions
Requisition Title: Full Professor - The F.M. Hill Chair in Health Systems Solutions - 1700216
The F.M. Hill Chair in Health Systems Solutions has been established by the Department of Medicine and Women's College Research Institute (WCRI) at Women's College Hospital (WCH), in collaboration with the University of Toronto. Women's College Hospital is home to Women's College Research Institute (WCRI), and the recently-established WCH Institute for Health System Solutions and Virtual Care (WIHV). The Chair will be joining an innovative and successful cross-disciplinary team that works in health care policy and program evaluation in addition to ground-breaking quality improvement work addressing some of the most pressing challenges in Canadian health care. The expected start date of the position is September 1, 2017, or a mutually agreeable date.
Women's College Hospital, fully affiliated with the University of Toronto (U of T) is Canada's only fully-ambulatory academic teaching hospital. Three broad themes are at the core of our strategic focus: health for women, health system solutions and complex chronic conditions. In June 2016, WCH celebrated the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art facility. WCH has implemented an organization-wide electronic patient record.
The University of Toronto, established in 1827, is among the world's most prestigious universities with a longstanding reputation for innovation and research. Recently the University of Toronto was ranked second globally for number of publications and third globally for citations rankings in the area of health policy and services. WCH is a member of the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) U of T.
The mandate of the Chair is to support a clinician scientist with an outstanding academic track record to conduct an internationally recognized program in the field of health systems research. The chair will have demonstrated the ability to develop, implement, evaluate, and scale up new models of care that address health system challenges and create the policy conditions to support positive health system change. A proven track record in the evaluation of health-care interventions that bridge and integrate components of the health-care system and enhance efficiency and the patient experience (e.g. mixed methods research, pragmatic trials) is expected. The chair must have demonstrated the ability to articulate the meaning and impact of scientific findings and engage in relevant advocacy activities. The chair should have an understanding of the policy process and an ability to work with governments and other institutions across the system to inspire and create change.
The chair holder must be a specialist in General Internal Medicine or one of its subspecialties with advanced research training (e.g. MSc, PhD) and be eligible for appointment to the Department of Medicine, University of Toronto. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. The successful candidate could apply for a cross appointment to the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto.
The Chair's position is for a five year term, with possibility of renewal for a second five year term following a successful structured review process.
Estimated compensation for this full-time position will be in the range of $300,000 - $500,000 per annum, depending on specific specialty and fee-for-service clinical billings (to be paid through a practice plan), as well as commensurate with qualifications and experience.
All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.
Please submit an up to date curriculum vitae and a two page outline of your academic program by April 30, 2017 or until the position is filled to:
