Position Information: The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) assists the campus community in predicting, preparing, mitigating, responding and recovering from any adverse event that disrupts the campus mission. Through emergency preparedness and response, continuity planning, training, exercises and communications, we serve the campus leadership and community by strengthening how the campus mitigates and prevents risk; prepares for, responds to, and recovers from emergencies; and protects the campus mission from disruption. OEM produces educational materials in a variety of blended learning formats for the campus community of UC Riverside. The Emergency Management Coordinator/Trainer may also participate as the training, education, or instructional design professional in a systemwide program or project. The individual is responsible for maintaining emergency response equipment, coordinating and training campus emergency staff and selecting technologies and tools, creates supportive learning activities, and develops new training in response to the University's needs. In collaboration with others, the position creates multimedia content and produces according to an established schedule. The Training Coordinator provides the support for testing courses to ensure they are functional, designed for learning in mind, and compliant with learning management systems.
Minimum Requirements: Strong skill to appropriately use technology and relevant scientific equipment as required.
Strong analytical and organizational skills to organize, prioritize and manage the successful completion of projects within time and budget constraints.
Thorough written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen and skill to communicate effectively in a diverse environment.
Thorough knowledge and skill in applying and interpreting applicable local, state, and federal regulations and related standards and guidelines.
Political acumen, plus demonstrated verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate in a comfortable and persuasive fashion, with a broad constituency.
Strong presentation skills to give engaging, persuasive, and effective trainings and presentations to large, as well as small audiences.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other common computer applications.
Ability to lead a team and facilitate trainings to groups.
Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications: Thorough knowledge/understanding of specific EH&S field(s) including related laws and regulations; and general knowledge/understanding of all EH&S fields.
Ability to project competence and credibility in all interactions, including interactions with faculty on issues that relate to teaching and research.
Basic web design skills.
Demonstrated project management skills.
