Description of Position
Diablo Valley College is seeking a part-time temporary position (fall semester), up to 18.5 hours per week, for a Learning Disabilities Specialist. The successful applicant will be well qualified to perform LD diagnostic testing, work closely with English faculty and students in basic skills English classes, advise students as to their learning needs and appropriate learning strategies. The position may involve some late afternoon and/or evening hours. Open until filled.

Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience
(d) Except as provided in Subsections (a) through (d) above, the minimum requirements for service as a community college faculty member to provide credit specialized instruction for students with disabilities shall be satisfied by meeting the following requirements:
(1) Possession of a master's degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in the category of disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology, or rehabilitation counseling; and
(2) Fifteen semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of disability, to include, but not be limited to:
(A) Learning disabilities;
(B) Developmental disabilities;
© Deaf and hearing impaired;
(D) Physical disabilities; or
(E) Adapted computer technology.

• commitment to professional growth and development, to innovation and improvement of teaching, and to assuming faculty responsibilities beyond the classroom in a shared governance environment
• experience working with students with learning disabilities in a community college setting
• experience in diagnosing learning disabilities and communicating diagnostic information that helps students maximize their learning strengths
• knowledge of effective materials and methods for teaching developmental reading, math, writing, and study skills to students with learning disabilities
• experience with strategies-based tutoring models
• familiarity with assistive technology as a learning strategy
• formal training in administration and interpretation, Woodcock-Johnson-IV Tests of Achievement (WJ-IV)
• formal training in administration and interpretation: WJ-IV Tests of Cognitive Abilities and/or WAIS-IV
• completed State Chancellor's office L.D. Eligibility Model training

Special Instructions to Applicants
This is a sabbatical replacement for the fall 2016 semester.

This position is part-time with the following hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday, Tuesday and/or Wednesday.
