Job Summary/Basic Function: The Department of Counseling, Health, and Kinesiology seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track appointment for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Guidance and Counseling. Currently, Texas A&M University-San Antonio is experiencing enormous growth and is in the process of developing a new 700 acre campus located on the Southside of San Antonio. The Counseling program is a robust program with an active faculty devoted to teaching and scholarship. The successful candidate will teach graduate classes in the Masters of Arts in Counseling and will assist in development/teaching of School Counseling; maintain an active research agenda; supervise master's level students; and fulfill service responsibilities to the Department of Counseling, Health, and Kinesiology and the university, as well as advancing the counseling profession. Candidates will be expected to work in collaboration with other colleagues in the Department of Counseling, Health, and Kinesiology and community partners. Faculty members will be expected to supervise practicum students.

Work Hours: Varies with course schedule.

Qualifications

Education

Necessary Qualifications: Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision.

18 graduate hours in each field in which candidate will teach.

Preferred Qualifications: Graduate of a CACREP accredited program.

Experience

Necessary Qualifications: Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
A minimum of five years of experience as a professional school counselor in a public school setting.

Evidence of scholarly potential/productivity.

Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience in higher education including advising and supervising graduate students.
