We seek a highly-motivated faculty member with the potential to develop an innovative and extramurally funded research program that will complement the Department's ongoing research in cardiovascular physiology/health. Applicants with research interests that bridge cardiovascular physiology and other areas such as neuroscience are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will also contribute to the Department's teaching efforts at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. The teaching load will be appropriate to allow the candidate to pursue and establish a rigorous research program. A PhD in a related field and 2 years of post-doctoral training or independent research experience are required. This position is being supported in part through an NIH-funded Center of Biomedical Research Excellence in Cardiovascular Health. GENERAL INFORMATION: The Department of Kinesiology & Applied Physiology (http://www.udel.edu/kaap) includes research disciplines in athletic training, applied physiology, biomechanics and motor control/neuroscience. It is comprised of 23 faculty, ~ 750 undergraduates pursuing a B.S. in Exercise Science or Athletic Training, and 40 graduate students pursuing an M.S. in Exercise Science, a Ph.D. in Applied Physiology or a Ph.D. in Biomechanics & Movement Sciences. The Department provides an environment that supports and fosters the development of productive, high-quality research programs.Doctoral programs within the Department were ranked 13th by the National Academy of Kinesiology in 2015. Annual research funding for the unit is approximately $5.8 million.
Ranked second, nationally, among the best places to study the health professions by College Factual, the College of Health Sciences is a thriving academic unit of over 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students and 110 faculty with outstanding research and teaching facilities. The College has recently opened an exciting new 100,000 sq. ft. clinical research facility (pictured above). The College also includes the departments of Behavioral Health and Nutrition, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physical Therapy, and the School of Nursing. With annual research expenditures of approximately $16 million, the college currently houses a number of large, interdisciplinary grants with significant funding from the NIH and DoD. The college boasts strong research teams in the areas of cardiovascular health, neurological disorders, and other chronic disease conditions, as well as biomechanics and rehabilitation science. There are also numerous collaborative linkages with our clinical partners.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Faculty at the University have regularly received annual cost-of-living and merit salary increases and the benefits package is one of the best in the nation. Relocation and start-up funds are available. Appointment begins August 15, 2017.
