General Statement of Job

To provide customer service assistance to students and prospective students.

Position Information
Location Hays Campus Hours 40 hours/week as assigned; Salary Assistant 4/114 ($23,923.00 - $34,175.00) FLSA Status Non-Exempt Reports To Dean of Student Services, Supervisor or designee Criminal Background Check Pre-employment criminal background checks are required for all Staff and Faculty positions. Pre-employment urinalyses drug screens are also required for all top candidates considered for positions in ACC's College Police department.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists current and prospective students by providing information on the enrollment process, including admissions, financial aid, and assessment.
  • Responds to questions and inquiries in person, by telephone, or via email.
  • Schedules appointments for assessments, new student orientations, and other services with advisors, counselors, and other staff.
  • Monitors and screens student records for status information including holds, academic standings, and exceeding course loads.
  • Enters data, maintains, and updates student information database.
  • Prepares, publicizes, and schedules students for workshops and orientations.
  • Maintains bulletin boards, brochure racks, and other information areas with transfer guides, career information, enrollment literature, and assessment study guides.
  • Provides clerical support for various programs and functions including college outreach and recruitment programs, advising, counseling, and assessment.
  • May serve in a variety of areas and may focus on specific rules, government regulations, and documentation specific to that area such as veteran affairs, assessment, or special populations.
  • May oversee the work of hourly employees or work study students.

  • Additional Job Specific Duties

      1. Promotes registration and enrollment at ACC.
      2. Provides support to new students with determining Texas Success Initiative (TSI) status and complying with other requirements such as the meningitis vaccination.
      3. Provides on-going quality communication, effective customer service, and support to prospective and enrolling students by using consistent, effective contact, phone calls, and digital communication.

    Required Work Experience

    • One year related work experience.

    Required Education

    • Associate degree.

    Preferred Education

    • Bachelor's degree

    Physical Requirements

    • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
    • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
    • Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.

    Full-time Faculty and Staffing Table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the College are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short and long term disability, retirement plans and AD&D.

    ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty Only). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by Federal law.
