Position Summary: The Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks to hire a full-time Research Instructor (fixed term) faculty member. The successful applicant will act as study coordinator for multiple research studies. Half of the time will be spent working with the research program analyzing the microorganisms residing in the gut of pregnant women and to see if the microorganisms differ in those that develop postpartum depression and anxiety. She or he will participate in the operation of the research project and provide organizational and administrative support. Responsibilities will include aiding in recruitment, network with care providers and patient groups to ensure recruitment goals are met, liaising with subjects around attendance to study sessions and sample collection and processing, in data management, and in some data analyses. This will also involve working with mothers and babies in the Mother-Baby Lab and in assessing stress for mother and baby. The Research Coordinator will need to either already be trained or willing to obtain training in venipuncture to collect blood samples. The other half of the time will be spent on database management, recruitment and retainment and other study specific procedures for the PPD ACT research app project. In addition, the study coordinator may handle regulatory processes (IRB), assist with paper and grant writing, and occasionally assist with other human research projects such as involving the Perinatal Psychiatry Inpatient Unit. We are seeking candidates with experience in research related to perinatal psychiatric disorders and who demonstrate excellent collaboration and leadership skills.
