Job Summary Supervises and participates in the establishment, planting, fertilizing, maintenance and harvesting of field research plots requiring the usage of equipment for operations such as tillage, planting, cultivation, harvesting and mowing. Coordinates with the Superintendent or Agricultural Specialist concerning field work for the unit. Operates various types of farm equipment such as tractors, plot combines, harrows, tillers, mowers and other farm equipment. Collects soil and/or plant samples from field plots. Performs preventative maintenance and makes minor repairs to equipment such as mowers, harrows, combines and tractors. Purchases needed supplies as required. Ability to work outdoors at hard manual labor under varied climatic conditions. Ability to supervise subordinate employees. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and no experience or equivalent combination required. Area-specific certification may be required and training will be provided as appropriate (i.e. UGA HazMat training).
