Degree and Area of Specialization: Bachelor's degree required (communications, journalism, English, and/or marketing desired).
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience: At least 3 years of professional full-time experience, 7 preferred, in developing and executing print and digital publications and website, media, and public relations communications strategies. Proficiency in word processing (MS Word), desktop publication software (InDesign), Photoshop, and design and production of electronic newsletters required. Familiarity with the veterinary medical and/or clinical and basic science fields is strongly preferred. Photography experience, including photo editing, is preferred.
Position Summary: This position reports to the Associate Dean for Advancement and Administration at the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine and is responsible for developing the school's print and digital publications, media and public relations, and website management. This position will work in collaboration with the school's communications and marketing manager. The individual will need to develop positive relationships with faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, and clients as well as partnerships with the public and other university partners in media and public relations.
