Position Information: The Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs organization encompasses more than 40 departments that provide various student services to UCR student population in order to cultivate a meaningful student experience. This position will provide administrative support to the Assistant Vice Chancellor (AVC)/Dean of Students by serving as the first point of contact to the Dean of Students Office. Duties include providing executive level support, to include calendaring, to the AVC and 2 Assistant Deans; serving as focal point for incoming communications to the DOS suite; assisting with special projects & initiatives as prescribed by the AVC and/or Assistant Deans, and other duties a requested.
Minimum Requirements: Political acumen and sensitivities to the differing perspectives and political circumstances within all levels of the organization as well as the Office of the President and external constituencies
Ability to use high-level discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Advising and counseling skills.
Strong skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, faculty, alumni/donors, students and external constituencies; both verbally and in writing.
Strong skills in analyses and complex problem-solving.
Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
Strong service orientation.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of federal regulations such as FERPA.
Thorough knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.
Familiarity with the organization's processes, protocols and procedures.
Skill in learning and adapting to the programmatic context of an organization (history, direction, leadership, funding and relationships).
Skill in analyzing policy issues, UC policy and procedures, and other directives and form solid recommendations.
