Goucher College seeks a visiting assistant professor of women, gender, and sexuality studies to begin in August 2017 for a one-year term. Goucher's Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) program provides an interdisciplinary, cross-cultural and intersectional approach to the academic study of women, gender, and sexuality. The program is located within the Center for Geographies of Justice and therefore operates in close cooperation with programs such as Peace Studies, Judaic Studies, Religion and Africana Studies. The departments that comprise the Geographies of Justice Center share the values of equality of individuals and peoples, honest dialogue, mutual understanding and cooperation, and active community engagement as the practice of justice.

The successful candidate must have expertise in women, gender and sexuality studies, Ph.D. at the time of appointment, be an experienced and creative teacher, an active researcher, and demonstrate a commitment to the values of the Center for Geographies of Justice. The position carries a 2/3 course load which will be comprised of introductory and upper level 4 credit courses including Confronting Inequality, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Intersectionality: Diverse Feminisms and upper level courses in the area of the candidate's expertise. Special consideration will be given to candidates who can offer courses in Africana Studies as well.
