Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor ~ Social Work
The Social Work Department of Nazareth College of Rochester, New York, invites applications for a one year faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor to begin August 2017. The department seeks candidates committed to teaching excellence who will contribute to the college's commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching in the Greater Rochester Collaborative Master of Social Work Program of Nazareth College and The College at Brockport, SUNY.
Located in the School of Health and Human Services with a focus on interprofessional collaboration, the Social Work Department has approximately 85 undergraduate students in the BSW program and 200 graduate students in the collaborative MSW program.
The mission of the Social Work Department is “to educate ethical, competent social workers prepared to engage in strengths-based practice, to advance human rights as well as social and economic justice and respect for diversity.” The mission of the GRC MSW Program is “to educate students to become competent and ethical professional social workers who will promote social and economic justice and equality though collaborative community focused practice that reflects the rights, needs and dignity of all people.”
Both the MSW and the BSW programs are accredited by the Council of Social Work Education.
Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have primary responsibility to teach across the social work continuum from generalist to advanced practice in the graduate program site in downtown Rochester; participate in curriculum development, advisement, and service to the program as assigned.
An MSW from a CSWE accredited program with several years post-MSW practice experience required. Candidates must have or be eligible to obtain the LMSW (minimum) or LCSW in the state of New York and have teaching experience in a social work program. Must possess excellent verbal and written skills and demonstrate a commitment to building a diverse and inclusive teaching and learning environment.
Doctoral degree preferred or ABD. Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching. Demonstrated ability to teach generalist or advanced level social work courses.
