Prepares monthly financial reports, submits transactions, prepares special reports and develops re-budgeting documents for contract and grant activity. Works with PIs to provide comprehensive financial plans for multiple multi-year awards in order to maximize the financial resources of each award type within compliance standards, perform analysis of spending patterns, historical trends and ensures appropriate spending authority and fiduciary responsibility.
Approves expenditures and verifies that transactions for purchases and travel are compliant with Uniform Guidance, agency rules, state, federal and university policies are met. Ensures that requests are completed in a timely manner, assure that expenditures are allowable, allocatable, and reasonable
Assists PIs with various phases of contract and grant activities to include proposal development, interpreting grant announcements, ensuring compliance with guidelines, submission requirements and deadlines. Prepares and revises complex and detailed multi-year budgets and budget justifications that reflect accurate projections of costs based on the research study, calculate correct fringe and F&A base calculations and rates. Ensures that all state/federal and university policies are met. Reviews proposals for completeness, adherence to announcement and financial accuracy.
Reviews and interprets Federal, State, local agency awards, guidelines and policies for compliance. Advise investigators and department personnel of appropriate actions for topics and questions regarding grant administration based on agency rules and regulations. Monitors completion of grant reporting deadlines within the department and assists with grant reporting requirements. Facilitates 3 phases of project close out at 6 months, 3 months, one month prior to end date, finalize project accounting, and assure that project is ready for final review by Sponsored Research Accounting Services.
Coordinates the personnel appointments with HR, SRAS and department HR. Verifies effort reporting through FACET accurately reflects PI's actual effort. Acts as intermediary between the Psychology FACET rep and PIs. Checks compliance of committed effort and ensures that PIs are within audit guidelines for effort reporting. Maintains effort spreadsheet for all PIs in the Psychology Department.
Assists with developing and leading inter- and intra-departmental training on grant compliance and grant management best practices .
Bachelor's degree or a high school diploma/equivalent and related financial experience equal to four years (Note: related post high school education may substitute for experience).
-Experience with accounting principles and with preparing, maintaining and reconciling budgets.
-Experience with applicable computer applications and basic computer functions to include Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
-Experience performing work accurately in a detail oriented environment.
-Experience prioritizing, organizing and performing multiple work assignments simultaneously.
-Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing as well as the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
NOTE: A skills test will be administered during interview process.
Anticipated Salary Range
$30,000 to negotiable based on education and experience.
This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.
