Director of External Relations - New York Confucius Institute for Global Finance (NYCIGF)
Baruch College invites applications for the Director of External Relations at Baruch College (NYCIGF@Baruch) for the Zicklin School of Business (ZSB). The Director is a leadership position, responsible for all administrative matters pertaining to NYCIGF@Baruch. The Confucius Institute is an initiative operated by the Chinese Ministry of Education. In addition, the Institute operates at numerous colleges and universities around the world for the purpose of promoting mutual understanding between China and the college or university locale. The NYCIGF@Baruch will focus on executive non-degree programs in global finance.
The NYCIGF@Baruch is a joint program with the Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) and Baruch College, and housed in the Zicklin School of Business. The Executive Director will report directly to the Senior Associate Dean of the Zicklin School. The Director will work directly with the Academic Director appointed by Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) to provide a variety of programs in different formats to fulfill the mission of NYCIGF@Baruch. In addition, working closely with the Co-Director of NYCIGF@Baruch representing SISU, the Director has primary responsibility for managing a balanced budget and reporting on budget and operations to the Board of Directors of NYCIGF@Baruch. The Director is responsible for all operational details of program delivery, including but not limited to, obtaining appropriate space, advertising, reservation system, catering, events management, delivery of materials, etc. The Director also is responsible for all fundraising activity at NYCIGF@Baruch.
As Director of the NYCIGF@Baruch, the duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement annual programing plan.
- Develop and manage annual operating budget.
- Recruit and staff language instructors, program assistants, and faculty experts for planned programs and events.
- Collaborate with the Academic Director of NYCIGF@Baruch from Shanghai International Studies University in all of the functions of NYCIGF@Baruch.
- Report to the Board of Directors quarterly and annually with financial and program summaries.
- Maintain a continuous balanced budget with positive cash flow.
- Supervise administrative staff.
Bachelor's Degree and eight years' relevant experience required.
Overall, the responsibilities of this position require strong administrative, financial, marketing, and program planning skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary. A minimum of eight (8) years related experience in program management, or related disciplines. Experience in higher education required. Ability to partner with College-wide functional offices to build and implement plans for NYCIGF@Baruch's various efforts. Exceptional organization and time management skills. Ability to multi-task while meeting strict deadlines. Ability to take direction and work independently to achieve established goals.
This position requires an individual who understands person-to-person relationships and has the ability to articulate in a persuasive manner the vision and priorities of the NYCIGF@Baruch, as well as Baruch College and the Zicklin School. The management of internal resources as well as external agents is required.
