At Stony Brook Medicine, Outpatient Financial Investigation Supervisor, will have primary responsibility, with Sr Manager, Registration Services collaboration, for the coordination and day to day operation of the Financial Screening and verification of the Registration assigned unit. Will implement all new protocols and ensure staff understand and utilize these tools. That will include financially screening, preregistration and auditing of demographic and financial information obtained at the time of registration. Will provide on-going daily staff direction re registrations, co- payments, and financial screening.

Duties of the Outpatient Financial Investigation Supervisor may include the following but are not limited to:
- In the role of supervisor of outpatient financial screener will supervise the daily operations/ financial screening of the call center/outpatient registration. Advise Sr Manager of staff concerns, errors and training needs. Continuously audits staff work for errors to include:
- Reviewing the work quality and output
- Meeting deadlines
- Reporting all numbers of days out for pre-registration
- Number of days out for authorization review
- Responsible for auto generated eligibility processes
- Provide related reports and data on these issues as requested
- Responsible for ensuring staff complete and maintain schedules and reports to manager as appropriate.
- Updates departmental worklists related to insurance updates, verifications, authorizations, referrals and all other assigned Outpatient & elective inpatient encounters.
- Quality Assurance - Responsible for auditing registrations, reporting data as assigned, and training staff at the Outpatient site.
- Responsible for supervisory administrative task as appropriate including: completing time cards, scheduling staff, following administrative protocols as appropriate for department regarding education, training, discipline, performance program review.
- Completes other special projects or assignments as assigned
- This position may require that you work in the hospital and / or off site areas
Required Qualifications: Associates Degree with five (5) years’ experience in a hospital setting working in a financial screening capacity or lead or supervisor. In lieu of a degree, seven (7) years’ experience in a hospital setting working in a financial screening capacity of lead or supervisor. Must have extensive proven, documented knowledge and experience. At least five (5) successful years actively working or supervising insurance requirements for authorizations, referrals, eligibility and inactive coverage.
