Department Overview
The Center for Human Identification was created in 2004, formally integrating the efforts of the Laboratory of Forensic Anthropology and the Laboratory for Molecular Identification. In addition to providing investigators with important information regarding cases, the anthropological data are used to refine molecular analyses within the CODIS system. This collaboration has created a unique resource for the identification of missing persons and unidentified remains, and is available to law enforcement agencies and medicolegal entities charged with the investigation of death across the nation. Additional support is also available to agencies through the Center's Forensic Services Unit.

Position Details
The Center for Human Identification Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Forensic Analyst to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

* Perform lab duties that include examination of evidence, DNA analysis procedures, and analysis and interpretation of data.
* Casework examination following all quality assurance and procedural policies and guidelines.
* Data analysis and interpretation.
* Statistical calculations and report generation.
* Technical review and administrative review of peer casework.
* Expert witness testimony.
* Adherence to all quality assurance and quality control policies and guidelines.
* Establishing competency in required procedures and data interpretation and maintaining proficiency by completing two external proficiency tests per year as required by the federal Quality Assurance Standards for Forensic DNA Testing Laboratories.

Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

BA/BS in Biology, Chemistry or related Forensic Science Discipline and 2 years' experience in Forensic DNA; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Master degree in forensic science/genetics and at least one year of forensic human DNA laboratory experience to include proficiency testing
* Knowledge and experience of mitochondrial DNA testing or Sanger sequencing
* Knowledge and experience using 3130xl, 3500xL, and 7500 SDS
* Knowledge and experience using Quant Duo, Fusion, Minifiler, and Yfiler
