Job Summary: The Division of Pediatric Urology in the Department of Urology is a nationally recognized program that is growing to meet regional demand. The Chief of the Division of Pediatric Urology leads the clinical and academic programs of the Division and also serves as the Director of Surgical Specialty Clinics for the American Family Children's Hospital (AFCH). The Division Chief leads the surgical simulation education program for the Department of Urology and serves in a leadership capacity in a number of national professional societies. This Medical Staff Assistant position will actively support the Division Chief in leading the aforementioned programs.
This position requires excellent administrative, organizational, oral and written communication, computer, and interpersonal skills. This position requires coordination of complex daily academic, administrative, and research activities. This position must interface with outside physicians, paramedical professionals, scientists (both research and clinical), and administrators locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. This position plays a leading role in assisting faculty in the administration of research, administrative, and academic programs. The responsibilities require considerable independence of planning, decision-making and strong public relation skills. This position must show confidentiality regarding all written or oral interactions and information. This position is at the advanced level with little or no supervision.
Professional communications, workplace sensitivity, and workplace diplomacy are essential. The incumbent will demonstrate exceptional customer service by establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships within the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (UW-SMPH) and UW Health, including executive leadership, Department and Division Chairs, Department Administrators, physicians, clinical personnel, co-workers, and other internal and external customers. The position requires exceptional skills in systems development, leadership and policy management.

Knowledge and Skills required:
-Administrative experience is highly preferred.
-Meticulous Organization skills.
-Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
-In-depth understanding of medical terminology preferred.
-Prior experience in health care environment is strongly preferred.
-Strong computer skills, including Microsoft applications, i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
-Knowledge of and experience with computerized scheduling systems and medical records systems preferred.
Schedule Comment: 7:45 - 4:30 Monday - Friday or to meet departmental needs.
