Position Information
The BAS Shared Services Center (SSC) is committed to creating a premier service experience for our clients that consistently exceeds their standards of quality, value, and excellence. Our services are performed by a best in class team of highly skilled and engaged service professionals, who participate in change management and continuous improvement strategies that expand our menu of service, broaden the service base, increase acceptance of the shared services model, and moves the SSC operation to the highest level of service and process efficiency and effectiveness. The SSC Payroll Supervisor ensures the timely and accurate review, preparation, processing, and auditing of approximately 100,000 annual payroll and personnel transactions. Develops procedures and monitors the preparation of accurate and on time recording and payroll processing. Performs the highest level payroll-related audits and analysis. Effectively supervises staff in the following payroll processes: employee records updates, onboardings, separations, time and attendance, leave administration; payroll processing, and monthly, quarterly, annual, and fiscal year-end reporting. Provides on the job coaching, training and development to staff. Interacts extensively with the central Payroll, Human Resources, and campus clients. Assist in the development of payroll related standard operating procedures. Identifies opportunities to continuously improve the effectiveness, accuracy and delivery of payroll services. **Hired incumbent will be stationed at the UC Intellicenter, must be able to drive/travel between university settings/locations/venues.**

Minimum Requirements
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in payroll systems, general office software applications, and payroll reporting software.
Strong working knowledge of payroll function.
Supervisory skills and experience, and service orientation.
Knowledge of various automated time recording and payroll systems, with skill and ability to conduct detailed analyses and audits, and analyze/review ledgers/reports.
Knowledge of job related principles, theories, and practices necessary to complete assigned duties.
Skill and experience working with large complex online payroll systems; keeping accurate records with strict attention to detail; computing ratios, rates, and percentages; using business software applications to query data from systems and create forms, spreadsheets, and reports.
Ability to make appropriate job decisions by following established policies, procedures, and best practices; learn quickly; engage in professional development activities; and apply background, technical knowledge, education, and prior job experience to job assignment.
Skill and experience providing excellent client service in a multi-function environment. Ability to deliver high quality, professional, innovative, and responsive service; build collaborative relationships with diverse client groups; actively listen to and resolve client service issues with tact and diplomacy; remain proactive and positive when faced with difficult situations; contribute to the development of a welcoming and inviting service environment; and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Skill and experience independently creating clear and concise written communication that is grammatically and punctually correct. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Skill and experience working in a team environment. Ability to share knowledge with others; develop and maintain effective,professional, and collaborative working relationships with colleagues; and partner with others to solve problems, improve processes, and achieve results that support the operations and mission of the BAS Shared Service Center.
Skill and experience serving a diverse client base. Ability to promote and sustain a work culture that acknowledges and celebrates differences; understand and acknowledge different perspectives; and work to build a culture of mutual respect, fairness, and equity.
Skill and experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Ability to embrace new ideas; adapt and use alternate approaches to work; and support process improvement strategies in a continuing effort to optimize services.
Skill and experience delivering timely and accurate payroll and administrative services. Ability to organize tasks according to departmental priorities; work in a fast paced environment at times with frequent interruptions; prioritize and complete multiple activities within established timeframes; and ask questions or seek clarification when unclear about expectations.
