Job Description

The School of Social Work, University of Missouri-Columbia, announces one open-rank, 9-month, tenure/tenure-track faculty positions currently available. Candidates should be able to 1) maintain an active research agenda leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals, 2) obtain federal grants or other external funds for state agency or community-based research partnerships, 3) develop multidisciplinary research connections on and off the MU campus, and 4) teach across the curriculum.


Minimum requirements are a doctoral degree in social work, social welfare, or a closely related field and an MSW degree from an accredited social work program. Evidence of success in scholarly productivity, external funding of research, and teaching competence is desirable at the assistant level and required at the associate/full professor levels. Capacity to contribute expertise in intervention research is desired as well as other areas that contribute to the School’s mission of social and economic justice, including poverty studies, substance abuse, health disparities, child welfare, and mental health.
