Network Specialist IV
The Network Specialist IV is responsible for analyzing, configuring, maintaining, and repairing network infrastructure and application components. They ensure the network systems meet established design standards and guidelines. This position acts in the identification, investigation, and selection of new network related software as well as network hardware solutions required to implement the technology strategies approved by management. Additionally, this position monitors, evaluates, and performs diagnostics on the LAN/WAN network and its associated systems like AAA, logging, NTP, and SNMP monitoring systems.
Candidates should be self-motivated and able to work in both an incident response and project implementation atmosphere. The physical requirements of this position include: occasionally lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to 50lbs; occasionally standing or walking with objects up to 25lbs; regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time with regular repetitive motions (such as typing); utilizing mouse, keyboard, and phone for portions of the day. Ability to travel to various locations on and off-campus for meetings, to provide service and install equipment.
Primarily days (i.e. Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm) Please be aware that as an exempt position, job duties may occasionally require additional time in the evenings, nights and/or weekends to accomplish work goals in excess of 40 hours per week.
Logical thinking; planning; problem solving; project management; excellent communication, time management, customer service, and organizational skills. Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of common protocols such as SNMP, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, NTP, LDAP, KERBEROS, RADIUS and FTP.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities?
BS, CCNA, or equivalent and 7 years of previous network experience preferred.
Driver's license preferred.
