Creating The Market & Defining the DCRI Think Tank Program:
Use a deep understanding of the global healthcare marketplace to identify issues and opportunities facing the global clinical research community and the healthcare system overall. Using deep sales and business development skills, or membership development skills, cultivate relationships with high-level, worldwide academic leaders, US and European government policy makers and scientists from the pharmaceutical, device and healthcare industries as funders, participants and attendees for the Think Tank programs. Based on the analysis and target audiences, develop innovative think tank programs that engage the clinical research, government, private and political communities as sponsors to fund the Think Tank programs i.e., requires understanding of business development and sales. Draw upon healthcare industry marketing skills to build an accompanying marketing program to establish the DCRI Think Tank program as a premiere thought leadership that differentiates Duke's Thought Leadership in the global healthcare marketplace. Leading Think Tank Sales/Biz Dev & Operations Demonstrating a deep understanding of a business management, develop the DCRI Think Tank business plan and funding model to ensure profit/loss balance. Manage all contractual agreements involved with managing the program e.g., with sponsors and venues. Secure a wide variety of sponsors for multi-thousand dollar commitments, using deep experience in business development/sales experience. Oversee and manage all financial aspects of account management, including compliance to contract/agreements, billings, receivables, profitability Accountable for implementing all DCRI Think Tank programs, including planning, onsite management, and post-meeting marketing. Ensure compliance with all government compliance guidelines and regulations. Manage funding of Think Tanks through registration fees, adhering to Duke/DCRI policies and procedures; manage vendors and invoicing. Manage customer expectations regarding quality, time and financial objectives and deliverables. Manage account workload and ensure good internal and external team communication. Ensure delivery of high-quality work consistent standards (flawless execution, on strategy, on time, and on budget) Set performance expectations and metrics for success. Attend client meetings, industry conferences, and communicate key learning to teams and clients. Keep abreast of industry news (e.g., keep tab on pipelines and movement of corporate leaders from one company to the next) and competitive environment to continually expand knowledge and stay one step ahead to keep the Think Tanks differentiated. Be a part of the leadership team for DCRI Communications, working collaboratively with peers to bring fresh ideas for growth, excellence and innovation.
Work creatively and independently in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to adapt and be flexible to changing priorities. Deep understanding of the clinical research and healthcare system landscape, understanding both private (pharmaceutical and payers) industry, government (FDA, NIH,CMS, CDC, etc.) and academic players. Excellent sales, business and/or membership development skills in a private or non-profit environment. Excellent client management skills and demonstrated ability to understand customer needs. Strong project management and client service skills within clinical research, the pharmaceutical industry or healthcare. Bring an understanding of establishing process and using technology to the new strategy. Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Strong financial analysis skills; preferably thorough understanding of company margins, pricing strategies, and profitability measures. Demonstrated ability to deliver results to the appropriate quality and timeline metrics. Demonstrated ability in matrix, global team leadership. Sound judgment and decision making skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients. Strong software and computer skills, including MS Office applications.
