Job Summary:

Responsible for installation and maintenance of new video surveillance service across Duke's campus. There will be 1,000 initial installations of cameras.

Provide first tier support for infrastructure and CPE systems, including daytime and off-hours coverage for problems with supported equipment.

Respond to such events with appropriate troubleshooting, and problem remediation.

Work closely with engineers and management to implement plans for changing and improving the LAN,WAN, optical, and wireless data networks.

Maintain central officeand remotes; monitor, install, maintain and repair all digital/analogequipment such as carrier systems, ISDN,span lines, Hi-Caps, fiber optics, data circuits, etc.

Analyze and repair digital equipment using technical meters such as transmission test sets, volt/ohm meters, oscilloscope, TDR's, OTDR's (optical meters), BER test equipment, laptop computers, frequency meters, error rates, and synchronization meters.

Use a variety of test equipment to isolate, identify, and analyze equipment trouble and take appropriate maintenance action.

Comprehend and relate complex circuit descriptions of both analog and digital fields.

Have the ability to understand flow charts, equipment manuals, technical documentation, and/or computer printouts for the purpose of trouble shooting and maintaining digital and analog systems.

Support, analyze and repair networked-enabled room-based conferencing systems such as telepresence and videoconferencing.

Provide onsite technical support for designated athletic events.

This support may require weekend and evening work.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements

Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred: A BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Requirements: At least seven years of progressively responsible experience field support of complex communications infrastructure and CPE Ability to communicate across multiple forms (written, conversational, presentation). Working knowledge of Cisco Wireless networks and RF AP installation and troubleshooting Experience deploying and maintaining a wide arrange of voice/video/wifiCPE Understanding of routing protocols across large campus networks. Specific routing protocol include: EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP. Experience troubleshooting problems with network analyzers and other test tools (OTDR, WIFI, etc) Working knowledge of Cisco VoIP environment
