20 hours per week for 10 weeks, exact schedule is negotiable. Student would be located in downtown Durham at American Tobacco Campus.

The intern at Duke OIT will be exposed to a variety of marketing activities, including formulating strategy, writing copy, creating graphic content, and social media outreach. They will work closely with the department's communication strategist to engage staff, faculty, students, and IT staff at the University about how to use technology to improve teaching and learning at Duke.

Most of the intern's efforts will focus on the following areas:

1) Monitor and post to OIT's Twitter social media account, as well as monitoring and posting to relevant Duke Facebook groups as appropriate.

2) Creating graphic signs, memes, gifs and other social media content for social media accounts and OIT's intranet site - Connections

3) Manage OIT's internal digital signage "DukeFlyer" feed. Both approving and posting appropriate flyers for the Duke OIT audience.

4) Assist in creating short tutorial videos to aid in the usage of new technology

5) Develop a list of security tips for Duke users to be posted in IT newsletters, websites, and OIT social media.

6) Create internal staff "shout outs" based on service desk comments to be posted internally.

7.) Help collect and convert updates from OIT communication liaisons into usable chunks of information for the Duke community. Determine strategy for dissemination including audience, message, and communication channel.

Journalism majors or students with extremely strong written and verbal skills are encouraged to apply. A background in graphic design and/or social media is also welcome.
