FINANCIAL MGMT ANALYST III

Plan, develop and coordinate the preparation of financial analyses and reports including, but not limited to, operational and capital budgets, financial statements, statistical reports, cost analyses and other financial information; perform complex and specialized assignments in assigned area of expertise; perform lead role in coordinating complex projects.
Financial analysis and preparation
Responsible for monthly closing and reconciliation of institute cost objects and accounts.
Analyze monthly financial statements to determine proper charging of operating revenues and expenditures in accordance with unit procedures. Monitor and report on monthly financial performance of individual programs as a whole; recommend corrective actions based on analysis.
Responsible for managing DCI startup commitment funds, ensuring startup commitments are properly structured and recorded within a complex database and ensuring that each of DCI commitment request complies with the signed MOU and matches the approved budgets/proposals.
Develop and obtain approval for costing rates for services centers and shared cores in accordance with University policy. Responsible for financial management of shared resources including, but not limited to: financial statement/analysis preparation, invoicing, accounts payable, etc.
Prepare annual budgets and provide forecasts to directors and managers. Perform year-end closing activities.
Assist with development of new business proposals including budget preparations and project specifications.
Collaborate with division administrators and assist with training and educating of administration personnel and grants and contracts staff in the area of best practices of financial accounting and monitoring systems.
Responsible for space management process through the Web Central system.
Make recommendations to improve financial systems; perform in-house audits of operating units; analyze deficiencies and report to director. Assist in formulating and refining short and long-term financial goals for the institute in consultation with directors and administrative staff.
Support the annual progress reporting effort for the Cancer Center Support Grant.
Attend staff meetings, conferences and trainings as assigned. Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and other industry related sources.
Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.

Work requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field. CPA is desirable.
Work requires a minimum of six years experience in financial management, cost accounting or a field directly related to specialized area of assignment. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The preferred candidate will have 8 years of financial analysis experience, training, and education. SAP and R/3 experience is strongly preferred. RCC and RAA certifications preferred. CPA is preferred, MBA is desirable.

- Excellent time management skills needed to prioritize among many competing priorities.
- Attention to detail needed to operate accurately and effectively in the regulatory environment.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel, multiple electronic databases and computer based information systems including Microsoft Access.
