Position Description,
Manage and expand a comprehensive and highly successful giving program for the Duke Cancer Supportive Care and Survivorship Center (SC&S Center). Maintain and encourage unrestricted annual gifts and restricted gifts to support clinical, research, and/or education/training activities. Develop, plan, and coordinate special events/programs and external relations of SC&S Center, including, but not limited to, SC&S Center Advisory Board. Develop and maintain productive relationships with constituents and related departments, including DCI Development staff; Planned Giving; Stewardship and Special Events, Communications, and Alumni and Gift Records. Scope of SC&S Center includes all DCI cancer center locations.

Responsibilities and Expectations
SC&S Gift Program 50%
  • Design and implement an annual giving plan.
  • Identify prospects and develop solicitation plan, taking personal responsibility for soliciting prospects in personal portfolio, as assigned.
  • Develop content and strategies for face-to-face, mail, and phone solicitations.
  • Collaborate with Planned Giving and Major Gift Officer to identify and solicit prospects for planned or major gifts.
Develop, plan, coordinate, and implement external relations efforts, including, but not limited to, SC&S Center Advisory Board and SC&S Center donors. Plan, organize, and execute meetings with SC&S Center Advisory Board. 10%
Develop, plan, coordinate, and implement special events/projects. 10%
Coordinate external/customer relations materials (brochures, newsletters, website, etc.) 5%
Research, coordinate, and write proposals 10%
Coordinate preparation and submission of budgets and grants; monitor, verify, and reconcile expenditures of budgeted funds. 10%
Monitor and evaluate special events/external relations effectiveness. 5%

Four year degree

Experience
Work requires five years of experience in alumni affairs, public relations, fund raising, sales and promotions, marketing, student activities or a related field in order to acquire skills necessary to administer, coordinate and/or participate in general fund raising activities and proposal development.
