IMMUNIZATION NURSE COORDINATOR
STUDENT HEALTH CENTER-ADMINISTRATIVE

Scope of Responsibilities
Plan and provide professional nursing care for patients at the Student Health Clinic in accordance with NC State Law, physician orders and established policies and procedures. Oversee the immunization compliance process.

Duties
1. Plan and provide professional nursing care for patients at Duke Student Health in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures to include collecting and analyzing patient data, making recommendations for nursing care plans, establishing interpersonal relationships with patients, evaluating nursing care given and communicating to proper personnel relevant facts about patients, action taken and patient responses. 40%

2. Oversee and coordinate the process to document required immunizations for incoming students. Review submitted documents. Enter/update compliance status in the electronic health record and University systems. Produce status reports as needed. Manage systems for tracking and communicating compliance status to individual students and school registrars. 40%

3. Collaborate with medical director, university health science programs and external clinical rotation sites to update and communicate changes in policy based on updates from the Advisory Committee on Immunizations (ACIP) and the Center for Disease control (CDC).5%

4. As needed, assist the Nurse Manager coordinate and participate in clinic and offsite testing and vaccine clinics per provider order or standing order; administer and document medications and vaccines according to established policies and procedures; document adverse reactions when they occur.5%

5. Create immunization and TB screening forms using office software applications. Prepare PowerPoint documents and present immunization compliance materials for online and real time orientations. 5%

6. Assist other nursing staff in the delivery of patient care; provide direction and guidance in the proper use, care and control of material resources; appraise quality and effectiveness of materials and equipment and report results to nurse manager; maintain standards of cleanliness in assigned area; observe activities of nursing staff and make recommendations to nurse manager for improvement in the quality and effectiveness of nursing care given. 2.5%

7. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. 2.5%

Education/Experience/Licensure
Work requires graduation from an accredited Bachelors of Science in Nursing program. One year of nursing experience. Experience working in a student health clinic or similar setting preferred. State of North Carolina nurse licensure.
